Howdy all [@RegolithAWG](https://awg.osdr.space/groups/regolithawg)!

Thanks you all for coming to our meeting yesterday. Again, Dr. Richard Barker led a discussion on hydroponics vs/with regolith based ag, and the group discussed a new project avenue. Our main question will be: “At what point, if ever, does using lunar regolith become more economical and sustainable than hydroponics?” We will look at the costs of materials, transportation, energy, processing, crew time, crop productivity, water and nutrient recycling, and biological safety (biofilms, pathogens, regolith toxicity, etc.). We will also explore hybrid systems combining regolith with hydroponics and see how the economics change as lunar settlements grow. We will continue to work on this over future meetings.

Additionally, we discussed a new model for regolith suitability for agriculture. I will provide updates on this as progress is made.

Next meeting, Jonathan Connell and Michael Laine from LifePort technologies will give a talk on their lunar data mapping tool. I will provide more details closer to the date.

Thank you all for coming. As always, let me know if you have any questions. See you all next time!

Thanks,

Aenghus
