NASA SMD Associate Administrator Dr. Nicola “Nicky” Fox and other NASA Science leaders host a virtual town hall **today, Monday Oct 26, 2–3 p.m. EDT (11 a.m.–12 p.m. PT)** on the new **Competition Model 2.0 (CM2.0)**, SMD’s overhaul of how missions get proposed, reviewed, and selected. The short version from Fox’s letter: compete on the science first. Step 1 proposals drop the detailed engineering, cost, and implementation material, and the selection timeline shrinks by up to 40–45% across mission classes (Discovery, New Frontiers, Astro-Probes, MIDEX, Earth Explorer, SMEX, Missions of Opportunity, and more). Apparently there will a NASA BPS townhall soon, which will be more useful for the life science, physical science, space health domains
