Dr. Peter Rose is a structural bioinformatician and computational biologist advancing AI-enabled discovery through open data and federated knowledge systems. He previously led the Structural Bioinformatics Laboratory at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (UCSD), where he helped advance the RCSB Protein Data Bank (RCSB PDB) as a foundational open resource for structural biology and drug discovery, and earlier held research and leadership roles at Agouron Pharmaceuticals and Pfizer Global R&D. He now collaborates with teams at UCSF and NASA to develop biomedical knowledge graphs and AI-driven data applications, including the NSF Proto-OKN project’s mcp-proto-okn server for federated SPARQL querying and mcp-genelab, which enables AI assistants to translate user questions into graph queries across NASA GeneLab and SPOKE-linked Neo4j knowledge graphs. His work bridges structural biology, multi-omics spaceflight research, and agentic AI systems to accelerate translational and space health science, with a strong commitment to open-source and reproducible research.
