The ASGSR Inspiration Scholarship: Laurence Davin and Norman Lewis Prize is designed to help inspire and motivate deserving students who, through financial or cultural circumstances, may never have considered that they can become the space life scientists of the future.
Students may apply should they meet the following criteria:
- Families facing some financial hardship
- High school junior or senior
- Provide an unofficial transcript
- At least one letter of recommendation
Students could use the funding as either a scholarship for defraying costs associated with attending college/university or as funding to conduct a science project or some combination. Students are expected to be supported by either one or two letters of recommendation. Ideally, the writer will be a mentor, teacher, or supervisor. Letter(s) must be sent by email (and by the recommender) to students@asgsr.org. We require one recommendation, but two may be provided if the student feels appropriate. There will not be an advantage given for multiple letters. Letters MUST be submitted by the application deadline.
Applications will be reviewed and scored by a committee; two $1000 scholarships will be awarded. Any questions may be directed by email to students@asgsr.org.
