Tribute to Ben Walsh

Hi All AWG members,

Ben Walsh has terminal cancer and is still luckily with us, but we are not sure how much longer we will be with us. So for people who knew Ben, it would be great to provide something to let him know now what a great guy he is.

Thanks to all who already made a video describing their experiences with Ben.

If you would like to make a video, there still is time! Better to let Ben know how much he has impacted your life and in general what a great guy he is when he is still with us. It really does help him and his family.

Please upload your videos here: Dropbox

You can watch the videos that have already been compiled together and shared with Ben and his family here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3uYWAySfLg (please keep private for now).

You can also write a message to Ben here if a video might be too hard (or do both!!): Messages from Registrars & Researchers for Ben - Google Docs

Thanks all and this really does help Ben and his family through this tough time.

“…Our darling Ben passed away this morning. Peacefully with myself and our friend Charlie here with him. Xxx” - from Chiara Shenoy, received at 7:25am, Mon 30th September 2024.

A video from various AWG members who shared some words to him before he passed this morning

For background, he played a crucial seminal role in ‘the kidney paper’ produced in collaboration with the AWG in the recent SOMA package:

Much love Stephen ‘Ben’ Walsh, his family, his lab, colleagues, and all AWG members who collaborated with him and Keith on this amazing work
