Adding AWG Group and/or Sub-Groups Calendar Meeting Invites

Hello all,

We’re happy that all 9 AWGs now have the main monthly meetings organized here on the Forum, but we need to get the sub-group meetings organized too.

To help better organize, this post is to help walk you through how to create an AWG subgroup meeting in our Forum calendar.

From my read across all AWGs subgroups and leads this includes @katherine.j.baxter @evartsb @jgong @mboerrigter @anarayan09 @robert.j.reynolds-2 @mattias.neset @windymc @fumimuratani @alexa.sadier @szewczyk @paula6 @asaravia @sigrid.reinsch @abegum @busracetinkayaun @ben.sikes @nicholas.brereton @vrvinothan @DirkNeefs @jonathon_baker @christinegatt @lauren.sanders @gebresg @svcostes @jaume.puig @ss.damianj @daniela.bezdan @dr.richard.barker @AnuragSakharkar @AfshinBeheshti @j.somsanith08 @jessicadurbano @borjabarbero @marie.mortreux @tejaswini.mishra @philipjsweet @kirill @j_miller @Dr.Overbey

  1. Home page → New Topic

  1. Select → category per your AWG group (this example is Microbe AWG Calendar). You also can/should add the tags.

  1. Then select → Gear Icon

  1. Then ‘Create Event’

  1. Select the date, time, time zone. Give it a name. Add url for mtg link. Make sure to select ‘Private’ - but also to select invite to Microbe AWG members (or whichever AWG the subgroup is part of). Add a reminder so members are pinged a reminder. If it is monthly, on the same day of the week/time, go ahead and select Monthly (we checked and this is, say 3rd Tuesday each MONTH).

  1. Create the event, and it will show up in the calendar

It looks like ours for the Oral Microbiome Subgroup is already setup, is that correct?

Indeed, Dirk has it pretty well dialed in. If you go to your Forum-Space calendar, you’ll see the invite for the next mtg on Dec 10

The calendar feature is a plug-in within the Discourse forum system, so it does have some bugs (for example, something happens where re-occuring mtgs are appearing months in advance)

Thanks for your engagement and support in the AWGs @jonathon_baker

Awesome, thanks. Just making sure we were all set

Absolutely. Sounded like the most recent oral microbe subgroup mtg was decently attended, and things are proceeding smooth. I was able to join for a few mins

@robert.j.reynolds-2 this thread to setup Sub-group mtgs on projects (such as DAG)

Or also @pmisra30 here is the thread on how to make the calendar invites for the Forum-space for the Causal Inference subgroup

Also @kirill when ready to add the RadLab mtgs in here

And also @pmadrigal if you plan on a series to get the AI-readiness subgroup in a mtg schedule
