Biggest health concerns on a future trip to Mars

If you’ve ever wondered about the biggest health concerns on a future trip to Mars — or you’re interested in solving them — take a look at this.

Some of the key risks include:
behavioral health issues, bone fracture risk, renal stones, SANS (spaceflight-associated neuro-ocular syndrome), crew egress risk, food and nutrition challenges, and pharmaceutical risk.

Thanks for the reference and ideas AliReza-H.

Last year I was intrigued by the egress, musculature, psychological concerns and started to look at a Mission Life Space Readiness Scale (MLSRS). A gravity aware, zone based framework for assessing crew functional mobility, task readiness, and behavioral recovery across human spaceflight environments. Initially looking at Mars surface recovery, I then looked to see if it applied to the ISS, Moon, Earth, and analog missions.

Concept Overview

As I saw it MLSRS tracks functional readiness by scoring how far, how often, and how confidently a crew member moves through six functional zones. Each zone is rated based on frequency, independence, and perceived effort. Scores are complemented by physical overlay tests to produce a complete picture of behavioral and physical readiness. Got a bit further then overtaken by work unfortunately. Did find that there was some applicability for older people new to living in Aged care facilities though.
