NASA’s Biological Institutional Scientific Collection (NBISC) at Ames Research Center is a biorepository of non-human samples collected from NASA-funded spaceflight investigations and correlative ground studies. The purpose of NBISC is to receive, store, document, preserve, and make the collection available to the scientific community. The intern(s) will assist in entering sample metadata into Excel spreadsheets and ultimately into our Laboratory Information Management System (SLIMS) using python or other scripts. Interns will also work on data visualizations of sample collections and data and sample curation. Other potential duties will include assisting with sample receipt, shipping, sample inventory, and general laboratory maintenance duties. In-person interns must complete laboratory safety training and will work directly with frozen or otherwise preserved samples. Excellent documentation and communication skills are required. NBISC *NASA Biological Institutional Scientific Collection (NBISC) - NASA) is part of NASA’s Open Science program.
