Hi all,
The first article from the Biofilms subgroup of the Microbes AWG was published today in npj Biofilms and Microbiomes. Thanks again to all who contributed!
Entitled “Biofilms: from the cradle of life to life support”, our perspective article looks at the role of biofilms in supporting crew and plant health in spaceflight, what we know about the impact of spaceflight on biofilms themselves, and discusses the potential biofilms and their study by Open Science methods has for enabling space exploration in the future.
Happy reading!

Note from editors that they’re highlighting the paper at the journal homepage at the moment: npj Biofilms and Microbiomes , and have suggested it for this week’s Nature Briefing-Microbiology newsletter: Introducing Nature Briefing: Microbiology | Research Communities by Springer Nature
Many thanks again from @katherine.j.baxter and I to the MicroAWG team and OSDR leaders
