The Elemental Composition of Land Plants: A Global Database and Meta-analysis

The Moon Village Association’s Lunar Agriculture and Sustainable Technologies group just published "The Elemental Composition of Land Plants: A Global Database and Meta-analysis". Check it out on ACS Environmental Au - https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acsenvironau.6c00028#

The paper showcases a new database of plant tissue concentrations spanning 52 elements, 5,474 samples, 73 countries, 21 climate classes, and 26 soil groups!

This database may be interesting to those estimating uptake of elements in off-world agricultural systems. Check it out, and let us know what you think!

Some of the takeaways from this study include:
-Less studied or contaminant elements exceed nutrient concentrations in some species
-Key atomic ratios differed between domesticated and wild plants,
-53 hyperaccumulator species were identified with high Ni, Cu, and Pb uptake as the most prevalent indicator of hyperaccumulation
-and much much more!
