AI for Space Exploration - Granada, Spain, May 2026 - Abstracts welcome!

From @ilf @AIMLawg

Excited to share that our Special Session “AI for Space Exploration” has been accepted for IEEE CAI 2026, which will take place in my hometown, Granada, Spain (May 8–10, 2026).

This session will bring together researchers and practitioners exploring how AI is reshaping space exploration, from autonomous systems and onboard reasoning to science planning and foundation models for space data.

We’re now inviting paper submissions by November 15.

Hey Ryan, Thank you! I think IEEE has a rigorous submission process. Would this excellent opportunity include coverage of the publication fee?

OSDR won’t be covering costs. Was more sharing this especially for colleagues in Europe who may be able to attend

Thanks for sharing @rtscott2001 , I just saw it! @james.casaletto maybe we could submit the CRISP stuff, what do you think? That’s ofc only if we get any decent results finally, haha

It may be beyond submission deadline. Did you double check submission date? They may have extended it. I sorta recall on LinkedIn or Email an update that it was extended?

Hi @anna.lewkowicz and @rtscott2001 - looks like we missed the Nov 20 deadline but they have 2 emails to reach out to (viedma@decsai.ugr.es rkozma@memphis.edu). Let me know if they are ok with a late submission and I’d be more than happy to push the CRISP work to the top of my queue.

cheers

You also James @james.casaletto can ping @ilf on email or Teams (he is at NASA Ames). Remember we saw him in Berkeley in September. He’s involved in the conference, maybe an organizer

Awesome if we can pull the rabbit out of this hat and submit :tada::laptop::robot:

That would be awesome, it does seem like we missed the deadline though
