Friendly monthly meeting reminder - Wednesday, August 27th from noon to 1:00pm EST.
Dr. Eliah Overbey, Assistant Professor of Bioastronautics at the University of Austin and the Chief Scientific Officer at BioAstra, will discuss different ways of using suborbital research opportunities to further studies in omics and human physiology, using the upcoming mission with the Space Exploration and Research Agency (SERA) as a case study. Specifically, discussion of (1) Human physiological measurements, including omics, (2) autonomous experiments, and (3) human-tended experiments.
Dr. Overbey completed her postdoctoral work at Weill Cornell Medicine in Dr. Christopher Mason’s lab under a NASA fellowship where she created the Space Omics and Medical Atlas (SOMA), using data from the Inspiration4 crew, and the Cornell Aerospace Medicine Biobank (CAMbank). Her work broadly focuses on profiling omics changes in astronauts and developing experimental protocols for microgravity research.
