Friendly monthly Animal AWG meeting reminder - Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 25th from 12 to 1 pm EST
Marissa Burke is a PhD candidate at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) and Graduate Research Fellow at Houston Methodist Research Institute (HMRI). She received her B.S. in Aerospace Physiology at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in 2022 where she studied spaceflight impacts on microbes (simulated microgravity) and murine neuroendocrine-immune crosstalk (simulated cosmic radiation with Dr. Amber Paul). Marissa is co-mentored in Dr. Sonia Villapol’s lab at HMRI and Dr. Christopher Mason’s lab at WCM.
Marissa will present her thesis work which aims to characterize and mitigate simultaneous gut-brain ailments after simulated microgravity and ionizing radiation in mice. Complimentarily, Marissa works on multi-omic analysis of immune and neural blood and plasma biomarkers among commercial astronauts.
See you there!
