Hello everyone!
Iām Rie, joining from Japan. Iām a new member of the AI/ML AWG, and Iām very happy to be here.
My professional background is a little different from a traditional research path. Iāve worked across technology and manufacturing, primarily in business operations, workflow and process design, automation, data analysis, and cross-functional project coordination. Most recently, I worked at Google Japan as a TVC, primarily with Chrome Enterprise and Google for Education.
Outside of my professional work, my interests have always crossed disciplines. I studied visual communication and technology, have lived and worked internationally, and spent time living with a hill-tribe community in northern Thailand ā where, somewhat unexpectedly, I also became an elephant mahout.
These experiences sparked a lasting interest in animals, human-environment relationships, and the different ways that technology, data, and scientific knowledge can intersect.
Iām particularly interested in AI/ML, open science, data analysis, animal-related research, and interdisciplinary applications of data. Iām new to space biology research, so Iām looking forward to learning from the researchers, students, and other members here while exploring where my experience in automation, workflow design, and data-driven problem solving might be useful.
Iāve started exploring the current AI/ML subgroup projects and am excited to get involved. Iām also looking forward to meeting everyone at the September meeting!
Rie
