NVIDIA Open Models Codefest Hackathon

I came across the NVIDIA Open Models Codefest and thought it might be of interest to members of the OSDR, particularly the AI/ML and Digital Twin Working Groups.

The event is focused on building practical applications using open AI models, with opportunities to prototype new ideas. There are some clear overlaps with ongoing discussions around digital twins, multimodal data integration, AI-assisted analysis, metadata harmonisation, and scientific agents for biomedical research.

If you’re interested, you can find more information and register here. I believe there is a workshop at the end of the month and then the hackathon takes place in September.

There are a few prerequisits:

  • The event is only open to participants from the following regions: UK and Ireland, France, Germany (and DACH), Spain, Italy, Morocco, the Central and Eastern Europe Region (Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia), Greece, the United Arab Emirates, and Kazakhstan.
  • Teams must be between 3-6 participants.
  • No advanced AI or GPU skills are required, but it is helpful for teams to have familiarity with one or more of: the NVIDIA AI stack (NVIDIA Nemotron, NVIDIA NIM™, NVIDIA NeMo™, TensorRT), generative AI application development, agentic AI workflows, or public sector/ regulated-industry deployment considerations.

15 teams will be selected to participate in the hackathon. Teams will receive GPU access and hands-on mentorship from NVIDIA’s expert network.

It would be great to hear if anyone from the AWGs would be interested in taking part, or if there are ideas that could be explored in the context of OSDR.
