Request for Subject Matter Experts for GL4HS!

Dear All,

The NASA Space Biology GeneLab for High Schools (GL4HS) program will hold its eighth summer intensive bioinformatics course in the coming weeks. The course will be held from 8am to 3pm (US Pacific) Mon-Fri from July 1 – July 26, (except July 4). We are looking for subject matter experts to volunteer a few hours to help the high school student (and teacher) interns with their data analyses. One part of the course is the “Research Training Competition”, where students work in teams of four to analyze an OSDR dataset, develop a hypothesis to explain their results, and develop a proposal for a follow-on experiment to test their hypothesis. This year they will analyze RNAseq data from experiments using mice, Drosophila, or Arabidopsis using the GeneLab standard RNAseq pipeline using the open Usegalaxy.org platform. If you are interested to participate as a subject matter expert, please respond to the survey here.

We are especially looking for rodent and fruit fly experts @AnimalAWG

Thank you in advance for volunteering!

Elizabeth Blaber and the GL4HS Team @Jennifer_Claudio

Also @ALSDAawg @MultiOmicsAWG
