GeneLab for High Schools (GL4HS) is a summer space biology training program held virtually for students by NASA Ames Research Center. Students learn the basics of transcriptomics analysis using Open Science Data Repository (OSDR) datasets. An application-based selection continues from our Basic course that opened in June to participate in the Capstone Research program, 45 teams are working on analysis pipelines for mouse, human cell line, plant, or fruit fly OSDR datasets. The Capstone program culminates in research proposal presentations based on their analyses of the dataset.
I’m writing to invite you to join us for the students’ GL4HS Capstone Showcase, taking place virtually on Saturday, August 8, from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM US Pacific Time.
We would be delighted if you would be a volunteer judge* to score presentations based on a rubric/form that we provide, and to also provide presentation feedback to the students. This greatly helps teams especially if they are selected to participate in the next phases for writing a formal proposal and/or to present a poster at the 2026 American Society of Gravitational and Space Research annual meeting in Crystal City, Virginia.
We ask for judges to please be available for one (or more!) of the three time slots throughout the day:
- 8:00 am – 11:00 am US PT (11:00 am – 2:00 pm US ET)
- 11:00 am – 2:00 pm US PT (2:00 pm – 5:00 pm US ET)
- 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm US PT (5:00 pm – 7:30pm US ET)

Note that the calendar invitation includes the time for the whole event, not just the time slot specific to your sign up.
*Judges must be US citizens affiliated with a US-based affiliation, and should be of grad student career level or above.
