I was invited and recently accepted into the Female Reproduction and Brain AWGs after completing the NASA GeneLab program (this summer), so I wanted to introduce myself here and connect with others.
My name is Aiyana Bage, and I am a rising junior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (in the US). I am very excited to learn from and contribute to the amazing work and projects happening within these groups. I am especially passionate about better understanding women’s health in space from both biological and neurological perspectives. (I really enjoy interdisciplinary work!!)
Although I am still young, I am incredibly grateful to have gained a range of unique research experiences. I currently lead reproductive and terrestrial women’s health research at a nonprofit and have also conducted epilepsy research at my local hospital.
Additionally, I recently founded Adrastea, an initiative focused on closing the sex gap in aerospace through projects spanning biology and medical research, policy, and biotechnology. Adrastea is youth-driven and brings together both young and senior scientists, with members and advisors affiliated with institutions including Oxford, Harvard, MIT, Princeton, and even NASA. I hope to share more about our work here in the future for anyone who may be interested!
