OSD-366 Visual Companion - 53BP1 DNA Damage Notebook for the DNA Damage Microscopy Project

I put together a visual companion notebook for OSD-366, the study behind the DNA Damage Microscopy project we have been working around.

Paper: Dose, LET and Strain Dependence of Radiation-Induced 53BP1 Foci in 15 Mouse Strains Ex Vivo Introducing Novel DNA Damage Metrics, Radiation Research 192(1): 1-12 (2019) | DOI: 10.1667/RR15338.1

What it covers:
Study design: 15 mouse strains, 76 animals, X-ray / ⁴⁰Ar / ⁵⁶Fe irradiation conditions

  • Biological concepts explained clearly for mixed audiences

  • Interactive visuals: dose-response curves, LET comparison panels, design coverage heatmaps, strain variability charts

  • Paper-aligned metrics: RIF/cell, RIF/Gy, clustering behavior, repair resolution over time

  • Anchored to OSD-366 and the BPS Microscopy Benchmark Training Dataset on AWS

Why I made it: OSD-366 is directly connected to the DNA Damage Microscopy project but the paper is dense and not easy to onboard from quickly. This notebook gives the group something to reference, share, and build on, and it’s designed to scale into a benchmarking scaffold once real study data is wired in.
