I am pleased to announce that my paper “Space pharmacopeia and AI: Designing a comprehensive and proactive AI healthcare management tool for short-term space missions” has been published in Acta Astronautica.
This work introduces an open-access AI decision support system for space crew embarked on an autonomous Earth-independent missions for real-time decision making. It is the same work I presented at the NASA Human Research Program Investigators’ Workshop HRP IWS 2025 in Galveston, Texas, USA earlier this year.
We, at Deep Space Initiative, have used the OpenAI’s text-embedding-3 as the embedding model that allows the system to retrieve the most relevant sections of ‘Handbook of Space Pharmaceuticals’ and provide them to the LLMs for processing after cross validation on NVDIA BioMegatron, Sentence Transformers, OpenAI’s text-embedding-ada-002, and MPNet.
