Education/teaching about life in space

Dear colleagues,

I would like to inform you about the creation of a training program in France concerning life in space and extreme environments. It is called CAP BIOSPACE, granted by France 2030, it is applied by the University of Bordeaux and 17 partners, including13 universities. CAP BIOSPACE offers bachelor’s (undergraduate) and master’s degrees and will fund 11 doctoral scholarships. It is open to international collaboration. It covers aspects of human health (from physiology to performance), animal models, and life support systems. The program is part of the “One Health” concept. Finally, it includes raising awareness among young people in middle and high schools and the general public about R&D issues in the fields of human space exploration and its benefits for human health. We are open to international collaboration (student exchanges, course sharing,…) and wish to share experiences in order to offer a new perspective on biology education and take into account all aspects of life in space and confined or extreme environments.

I and Jean-François Quignard, professor of physiology at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Bordeaux, are project leader and Alice Nicole is executive director of CAP BIOSPACE. We are available to present the program and interact with you. You can contact us at cma.cap.biospace@u-bordeaux.fr

Best regards
JLuc
