If you’re a Master or PhD student in the biological sciences, this is your chance to make a significant impact in the field of space exploration!

Key Topics: :microscope: Reproducibility and Open Science in Space Omics
:microscope: Space Multi-omics and Data Integration
:microscope: Meaningful Experiment Design for Space Biology
:microscope: Applied Space Biology Research
:microscope: Bioengineering and Synthetic Biology – Making Space Exploration Sustainable

How to Participate: Apply through the OSIP platform. Registration is open from June 10th to July 10th at ideas.esa.int.

Who Can Participate? We are looking for Master/PhD students from biology fields. The scientific institution for which the coordinator of a proposal is working must be located in one of the ESA member or associated member states.

Prizes:
:trophy: First Place: An online internship with NASA GeneLab!
:medal_sports: Top Three Winners: ESA’s support for an open publication, a tour of the ESA European Astronaut Centre (EAC), an opportunity to present at NASA-GeneLab Multi-omics Working Group online, and an ESA goodie bag.

Our Goal: The ESA Space Omics Hackathon aims to encourage scientists to explore the field of space biology, promote open science, and foster community engagement, especially among early career scientists. Together, we can identify new applications for omics methodology in space biology.

Join us in this unique journey to advance space science and contribute to the future of space exploration!

Tagging some colleagues in Europe who may not have heard of this ESA Space Omics hackathong. Are you interested? Know students/others who may be interested? I don’t believe anyone below was tagged prior :grinning:.

This sounds like an EXCELLENT event. Cheers ESA SciSpacE @rodrigo.coutinhodeal et al!

AWG members in Europe that I can tell (UK, France, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Austria. The ones I could glean from full profiles or registration)

Hi Abraham, just a correction, to participate in the hackathon you don’t have to be a citizen of an ESA member state, you have to be enrolled or graduated less than 1 year ago, in European University/Institute.

Thanks for the correction!
