Space Adaptation and Evolution project

Sadly not (for ASGSR or IWS) I have too many travel plans (like 3 transatlantic flights until the end of the years and more to come :exploding_head:

Soon, someone from OSDR curation, presumably @kristen.peach will do a ~monthly post pointing the AWG to all new datasets :slightly_smiling_face::tada: Cheers

I submitted abstracts to IWS! (Not going to ASGSR this year) I received sevral DMs and added to the sub-group Teams… We just started bi-weekly meetings a few months ago, and still trying to find out how we run the meetings and analysis by trying several pilot projects (not only analysis, funding application, confernece presentation, drafting papers etc. and most impoarntaly, reading and thinking!) Maybe that’s how we work!?

Nice @fumimuratani - Sounds good. If a regular schedule is established, let me know, and I can setup the calendar here in our Forum-Space to invite more AWG members to attend

Indeed, myself and many other Ames colleagues won’t be at ASGSR either. But, I will be at IWS in Galveston as well

Hi @alexa.sadier @fumimuratani This sounds like a really interesting project. I would love to learn more about the different approaches for evolutionary models being investigated and if there are any chances to get involved! My email is bqh5451@psu.edu. Thank you!

Hi Biyanka,
Thanks for your interests! We added your e-mail to our contact. Please follow meeting links. Next meeting date is not confirmed yet (due to my travel schedule), but usually on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays.

Thanks Fumi - when you get the times & dates figured out — could you add a calendar invite for this subgroup project? Here’s a how to do that in this forum space:

I’d love to get involved if you still need folks! My background is in cellular senescence, neuroscience, and gastroenterology, and I specialize in mathematical and computational modeling, scientific software development, and bioinformatics (multi-omics, especially spatial transcriptomics). My email is elizabeth.aslinger@aya.yale.edu.

Thanks for responding to Fumi and Alexa!

Yes, the project is ongoing, just their meeting cadence has been uneven, but they are working on data analysis and a manuscript, iirc

Hi Elizabeth! Yes, it is hard to get funded as evolution and evo-devo, despite being recognized in decadal survey, are not part of the priority for funding so progress are slower that they could be!

Accepted the invite! I noticed in one of the Teams threads that you mentioned a program officer saying aging is one of the prime priorities for funding; my most recent research has centered on senescence, so if you’d like to brainstorm at some point about possibilities for integrating/working that funding priority into your interests, let me know! I feel like piggybacking that way can be effective, both funding-wise and scientifically.

Hello @alexa.sadier and @fumimuratani, this project sounds like an amazing opportunity! I am very interested in learning more about the evolutionary models being investigated and how associated multi-generational studies will be implemented. If there are still spaces available I would love to get involved in any way. My email is zhooper3@gmail.com and I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!
